Two English Premier League clubs are interested in signing Mats Hummels, who is still available on a free transfer after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

After months of speculation, Mats Hummels' next destination could lie in the English Premier League with reports claiming that Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United are both interested in signing him. According to Sky Sport, the veteran centre-back recently had a phone call with newly appointed Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler, who helped St. Pauli win promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

Could the English Premier League be Mats Hummels' next destination?

West Ham United are also interested in signing Hummels, having recently signed his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Niclas Füllkrug.

Hummels has seemingly rejected a move to Italian Serie A side Bologna, despite them leading the race for his signature for quite some time. Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Juventus are also said to be interested in signing the 2014 World Cup winner, while La Liga clubs Mallorca and Sevilla have also been linked.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mats Hummels, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season after those in charge decided against extending his expiring contract. The 35 year old turned back the years with some of his performances last season, showcasing his excellent defensive skills.

Hummels made a total of 508 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, and also spent three years at Bayern Munich. Now, it appears that a move abroad is the likeliest option for the centre-back.
