Predicted Borussia Dortmund lineup for SV Darmstadt clash

Borussia Dortmund will return to Bundesliga action this weekend as they take on relegation threatened SV Darmstadt away from home. The Black and Yellows will hope to start 2024 with a win as they look to try and claw their way back into the top four.

Edin Terzic will fancy his side's chances of beating bottom club SV Darmstadt on Saturday. But Borussia Dortmund will need to produce a much improved performance, having won just one of their last eight games before the winter break.

BVB have a number of injury concerns ahead of Saturday's game. But Jadon Sancho should be in the squad after completing his loan move from Manchester United on Thursday. Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up for their Bundesliga clash against SV Darmstadt.

Gregor Kobel will start in goal for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, hoping to keep his first clean-sheet in the league since October.

Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle should start together in central defence, with Nico Schlotterbeck expected to slot in at left-back due to a lack of alternatives. New signing Ian Maatsen could start on the bench, with Thomas Meunier set to play at right-back.

In midfield, Emre Can should make his return to the starting XI after missing the friendly against Standard de Liège earlier this week. Marcel Sabitzer is also expected to line up in the middle of the park for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Julian Brandt was Borussia Dortmund's best attacking player in the first half of the season, and will hope to pick up right where he left off. Marco Reus will likely share the playmaking duties, with want-away forward Donyell Malen also an option.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens cemented his place in the starting XI before the winter break and should start out wide once again on Saturday. Niclas Füllkrug will start in the number nine role, with Jadon Sancho and Youssoufa Moukoko set to start on the bench.
