Serhou Guirassy on the verge of joining Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart, beating out competition from the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan.

After weeks of speculation, Serhou Guirassy finally is set to make the move to Borussia Dortmund. The 28 year old will be join the Black and Yellows from VfB Stuttgart for a cut-price fee of around 18 million euros thanks to a release clause in his contract. According to multiple reports, Guirassy has decided to join BVB and has accepted the club’s offer.

A few minor details still need to be clarified before the transfer can be made official. But Borussia Dortmund will secure the signing of their first-choice striker target in Guirassy.

The Guinea international is coming off an excellent season with VfB Stuttgart, and helped the Swabians finish second in the Bundesliga. He will hope to make a similar impact at Borussia Dortmund, having scored 30 goals in just 30 appearances across all competitions this season.

Once it became clear that Borussia Dortmund were looking to sign a new striker this summer, Guirassy quickly emerged as the club’s top target. The towering striker tormented the BVB defence this season, scoring in all three games against them. Now he is set to lead the attack for Borussia Dortmund, where he will also link up with Stuttgart teammate Waldemar Anton.

It will be interesting to see what the signing of Serhou Guirassy means for Borussia Dortmund’s other strikers. Niclas Füllkrug is expected to stay and fight with Guirassy for a spot in the starting XI next season. But the futures of Sebastien Haller and Youssoufa Moukoko are up in the air at the moment.
