A lot has been made of Serhou Guirassy's future this summer. Despite another productive spell with Borussia Dortmund last season, there were rumors that he may opt to leave the Signal Iduna Park.

One major driving factor behind these speculations was the presence of a release clause in the Guinean star's contract that was said to be applicable only for a few clubs.

No bid for Guirassy yet

It had been reported that the clause of approximately €50 million was applied only to seven top clubs, namely Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, the player hasn't received an offer from any of those clubs. Even Fenerbahce, the club linked to him the most this summer, haven't tabled any bid for him so far.

Now with the clause expiring today, the Borussia Dortmund faithful would be delighted to see that his future is secured and he'll remain at the club for 2026-27 season. Wrong!

Dortmund could listen to offers for Guirassy

Even as the clause expires, Borussia Dortmund haven't ruled out entertaining offers that surpass value mentioned in it. In fact, the club will reportedly take them into consideration should such an approach be made, which at the moment is more likely to come from Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Pro League clubs have broke the bank for several forwards, young and old alike, in recent years although earlier reports have suggested that Guirassy wants to continue playing in top-tier European football.

What if Guirassy leaves?

But what if Serhou Guirassy does end up leaving somehow? Then it's said that Borussia Dortmund would attempt to bring Fisnik Asllani to Signal Iduna Park. Sporting director Nils-Ole Book maintains contact with the Hoffenheim star through their time together at SV Elversberg and identifies the forward as a potential recruit.

However, it's also worth noting that time's running out for the BVB already. RB Leipzig have stepped up their pursuit of the 23-year-old lately and he appears interested too as a transfer could soon materialize. If Guirassy leaves closer to the end of the transfer window, things could get more complicated for them and Fabio Silva will have to shoulder the responsbibilities as their main marksman.

Guirassy's incredible record means BVB must keep him

Since joining from VfB Stuttgart in 2024, Serhou Guirassy has scored 60 goals from 96 games in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund. Although his second year produced much less goals (22) than his first (38), he still showed up in the key moments and won them some vital points in their Bundesliga title hopes.

He's still only 30 and has a few more years at the top, so Die Borussen would be wise to retain his services.
