Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart renew hostilities in the Bundesliga on Saturday in a clash of two in-form teams.

Both teams are gunning to finish inside the top four places of the German top-flight and secure their place in the Champions League next season.

Der BVB have won their last three league games in a row while Die Roten are unbeaten in their last six, wining their most recent two.

Moreover, the clashes between these two sides have been really entertaining in recent times, averaging almost four games a game from their last seven meetings.

That alone should make any fan eager enough to look forward to this game. But Dortmund and Stuttgart have also seen many players trade their colors over the years. Here are a few:

Serhou Guirassy

We'll start with the biggest name of them all, Serhou Guirassy. The Guinean international made a name for himself at Stuttgart with his blistering scoring exploits that caught Dortmund's attention.

After 44 goals from 58 games, the striker jumped ships to Dortmund where he's since continued his blistering run of form to bag 56 goals in 89 appearances.

Gregor Kobel

Another player who made a direct leap from Stuttgart to Dortmund is Gregor Kobel. The Swiss custodian too played for two seasons with Die Roten before the move.

In his first year at the club, he helped Stuttgart gain promotion from 2. Bundesliga while on loan before the club made his move permanent as Kobel remained a fixture in the side.

Impressed with his skills, the BVB came for him in 2021 following which the 28-year-old amassed 209 appearances while establishing himself among the best in the business.

Dan-Axel Zagadou

The one player on the list who crossed the path in the opposite way is Dan-Axel Zagadou. He joined Borussia Dortmund as a free agent in 2017 after spending years in PSG's youth academy.

A centre-back by trade, Zagadou could never really nail down a starting berth at the club, hopping in and out of the side while injuries also served to exacerbate his time on the field.

Nonetheless, after five seasons and 92 appearances, Stuttgart also roped him in on a free transfer where his injury struggles have continued. For context, he's played only 49 games in four years.

Waldemar Anton

Waldemar Anton was an instrumental figure at the heart of Stuttgart's defense for four years, playing almost every Bundesliga fixture during his time there to amass 127 appearances.

Dortmund identified him as the potential replacement for the outgoing Matts Hummels, who was AS Roma-bound, and Anton hasn't disappointed since making the transfer in 2024.

A force of nature in defense, the German international commands great authority and possesses exceptional vision to sniff out danger and never shies away from a duel.
