Borussia Dortmund welcome their players back into the squad following an almost two-week long hiatus due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The stars were actively involved with their national teams with a few even punching their tickets to next year's showpiece.

But here are the three who stood out:

3 Dortmund stars that shone in the international break

3) Gregor Kobel (Switzerland)

Switzerland crushed Sweden 4-1 before playing out a 1-1 draw with Kosovo as La Nati qualified for the World Cup. Gregor Kobel started in goal on both occasions and played full 90 minutes.

The Dortmund custodian was a reliable figure who guarded his area with authority and jumped into vital saves whenever needed. He made two against the Swiss and three against the sturdy Dardanians to help his team avoid a defeat on the final day.

2) Marcel Sabitzer (Austria)

Marcel Sabitzer was one of the star players for Austria once again this month as the side qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998. In the 2-0 win over Cyprus, he mustered four shots of which two were on target as Sabitzer was relentless, while also laying eight crosses.

Das Team were then given a tough run by Bosnia in their final qualifying fixture but Michael Gregoritsch's 77th-minute equalizer sealed Group H for them. Sabitzer was once again actively involved, demonstrating his menacing attacking instincts by getting forward at full pelt.

Although he didn't make any direct attempts at goal, the 31-year-old made a game-high of 15 crosses as the Borussia Dortmund star wreaked havoc on the flanks and constantly asked questions of the Bosnian backline.

1) Juliyan Ryerson (Norway)

Former Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland spearheaded Norway to their first World Cup since 1998 with a prolific tally of 16 goals, but there were a few other players who were instrumental during their barnstorming run too.

One of them is Julian Ryerson. The talismanic right-back accounted for one goal and four assists, two of which came this month against Estonia: a long-range cross for Alexander Sorloth to head home before another one from inside the box for Haaland's header.

Although he drew a blank against Italy, Ryerson turned in another stellar display with six crosses in the game. The Borussia Dortmund ace was vital defensively too, with four recoveries and two interceptions and clearances each.

Borussia Dortmund reconvene their Bundesliga campaign against VfB Stuttgart at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.
