Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton took delight in his side's performance after they beat Augsburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Karim Adeyemi opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Luca Reggiani headed another one after the break to hand Die Borussen a routine victory.

Anton, a rock in Dortmund's backline for 90 minutes with a solid display, reveled in the victory. He called their win 'dominant' the home side were in cruise control from the beginning.

""We wanted to show our dominance and were in control for the full 90 minutes, which was very, very important. And we started the second half well, something that hasn’t always gone so smoothly in recent matches.""
said the Germany international

The Black and Yellows have indeed struggled after the break lately, conceding thrice against Bayern Munich in a 3-2 defeat after having kept them goalless in the opening stanza, while Koln also managed to score a late goal against them. Last month, Heidenheim and Wolfsburg also managed to breach their defense in the second half.

But there were no such nervy moments on Saturday though, with the Dortmund holding a firm hand on the tiller as Augsburg struggled to create clear-cut chances. The Fuggerstadter spent most of the time in their own half with the BVB throwing the kitchen sink at them.

Anton also heaped praise on the 18-year-old teenager Luca Reggiani, who bagged his first Bundesliga goal of the campaign and his first for Dortmund in all competitions, while also highlighting his defensive qualities.

""Luca put in a very good performance. I always start with his defending, because at the end of the day he’s a defender. He did that very well, without any mistakes. The goal was the icing on the cake, and I’m glad he scored his first goal.”"
added Anton in his post-game comments

A corner was played in by Julian Ryerson which Reggiani rose to head beyond Augsburg custodian Finn Dahmen for 2-0 as Dortmund consolidated their grip on the tie.

The visitors made a slew of changes in the seocnd half as manager Manuel Baum looked to inject some fresh legs but to no avail as Dortmund held firm to secure all three points.

With 58 points in the bag from 26 games, Niko Kovac's side remained in second place, nine off Bayern who drew 1-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on the same day.

Dortmund next play Hamburg at the Signal Iduna Park once again on Saturday, 21 March.
