Christian Pulisic Struggles

Our American wonder kid looks lost. His poor international form seems to have followed him to the club. Pulisic failed to make a lasting impact and even missed a few easy passes that could have changed the game. With Dembele gone, Pulisic will need to step up or else Dortmund may struggle until Reus returns.

Wembley Woes Continue

After losing 2-1 to Bayern Munchen in the 2013 Champions League Final, Wembley has been a constant reminder of a dark time for the black and yellow. It seems as if time has not changed this tale following a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Hopefully Peter Bosz’ men can avoid this stadium for awhile now.

Bad Refereeing + Injured Squad = A Bad Result

While it was far from the best performance from the players who were healthy, the refereeing performance was abysmal. Two goals wrongfully called offside really hurt Dortmund. There was an uncalled foul on Harry Kane’s first goal, as he turned into a battering ram and took out Sokratis and Sahin on his path to gain free space in the box. Although to be fair, Yarmolenko might have been offside on his first goal, which evens the playing field a bit. At the end of the day, it’s not good to see a poor refereeing performance impact such an important match. This match reinforces the idea of incorporating VAR. After all, it is 2017, it’s time world football catches up with the rest of the world in regards to video replay.
