Form Guide
Borussia Dortmund:
Last 5 matches: WLWLD
Last match: Dortmund 1-1 APOEL
Analysis: Dortmund needed to get 3 points in Cyprus but failed to do so miserably. Dortmund absolutely owned APOEL possession wise but due to silly mistakes and lack of penetration, the team just couldn’t take home the win. It was a complete disaster, it seemed as if the team just wasn’t motivated. APOEL seemed like they could come out with a win after having more shots on target than Der BVB, they were constantly testing Burki, who endured a bad game in goal.
Eintracht Frankfurt:
Last 5 matches: LWLWW
Last Match: Frankfurt 2-1 Hannover
Analysis: Eintracht Frankfurt played Hannover away and managed to pick up an astonishing win. It was a tight match between both teams and it was all tied until the very end. In the 89th minute, Sebastien Haller received a long ball coming from goalkeeper Hradecky. Then he proceeded to pass the ball to Ante Rebic who smashed it with a strong right-foot strike from outside the box. They are currently 7th in the table, 7 points behind Dortmund.
Opposition star man
Finnish goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is clearly the Frankfurt’s star man. He joined Frankfurt in 2015 and played an important role for the team’s 2016-17 DFB Pokal cup run. He joined Frankfurt after German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp left in favor of PSG. This being his third season with the club, he has played in 85 games, keeping 26 clean sheets.

Teams Head to Head
Dortmund and Frankfurt have played 88 matches in all of their history. Currently, Dortmund have the advantage, winning 42 of them. On the other hand, Frankfurt have beaten Dortmund 30 times. Both teams have had a fair amount of transfers on the past few years. A couple of names that stand out are former Togolese international Bachirou Salou who played for Dortmund during the 99/00 season, playing 26 games and scoring 5 goals before joining Frankfurt the following year. Former Dortmund II star Marvin Bakalorz was also transferred from Dortmund to Frankfurt. Finally, Dortmund legend Andreas Moller, who played 271 games for Dortmund was transferred to Dortmund from Frankfurt on the 87/88 season, before moving back on the 90/91 season. He is mostly known for being part of Dortmund’s 94/95 and 95/96 team that won the Bundesliga for back to back seasons.
Probable lineups
Dortmund 4-3-3
Bürki –Toljan, Sokratis (c), Bartra, Schmelzer – Weigl, Sahin, Götze – Philipp, Aubameyang, Pulisic
Frankfurt 4-2-3-1
Hradecky – Chandler, Abraham (c), Salcedo, Willems – Hasebe, Fernandes – Rebic, Boateng, Wolf – Haller
Final Prediction
Eintracht Frankfurt 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
Peter Bosz’ side come into this game, desperately in need of a win. Their advantage over Bayern at the top of the table is now just two points. And they will come out on top against Frankfurt, despite the home side’s good run of form. Dortmund’s strength in depth and superior quality should be enough to lead them to a crucial win.
