18. Gonzalo Castro (previously 18)

There is a lot that can be said about Castro recently, primarily how poor his form has been. He has been very ineffective on the pitch whenever he has been used. Making matters worse, he was recently injured in the Leverkusen match, which hurt Bosz, as he is fond of using the midfielder.

17. André Schürrle (previously 23)

Schurrle has only been used in 2 matches since his return from injury. His first match against Stuttgart was average at best. When he came on for Philipp against Leverkusen in the fourth minute, he performed far better. Schurrle is not seeing much play time, but he could prove to be a valuable assist as the season continues. However, he is still way down the pecking order and is unlikely to stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

16. Marc Bartra (previously 6)

Marc Bartra has had the biggest slide of all Dortmund players. This season he seems to be more interested in going forward and attacking, rather than defending. At the end of the day, Bartra is suffering from being misused in the current formation. He is naturally at his best in center back and not as a wing or side back. However his howler against Stutggart, when playing in the middle of the defense didn’t help matters.

15. Jeremy Toljan (previously 16)

Toljan has performed far better than he has been given credit for recently. It’s when he plays on the side between the back and the midfield. He can provide better than he can defend for the most part. Toljan’s role should develop more moving forward, as he won’t be able to fully replace Lukasz Piszczek anytime soon.

14. Mahmoud Dahoud (previously 14)

Dahoud finally got his chance when he started against Real Madrid. That didn’t help the midfielder very much. While he showed some impressive glimpses of his talent, his lack of match fitness was evident. With minimal impact on the field in recent matches, it will interesting to see where he will go from here. Initially, he had 5 assists when the season started, fans hope he will be given a real chance in the team now.

13. Julian Weigl (previously 13)

It is a shame to see how Julian Weigl has turned out this season. He was a midfield maestro under Tuchel and became highly sought after for his ability to control the midfield. Weigl isn’t flourishing with Sahin under Bosz and it can be a killer defensive midfield for any opposition to face off against. Instead, his performances are lacking since his return from injury. Bosz’ tactics don’t help his case.

12. Dan-Axel Zagadou (previously 9)

Dan-Axel Zagadou had a month to forget, after being one of the better defenders on this list just a while back. With that being said, his inexperience does still show from time to time. The way he is developing under Bosz, he is getting better as time goes on. Zagadou will be a center back to keep an eye on as he continues to play.

11. Andriy Yarmolenko (previously 10)

Yarmolenko is completely capable of being one of the best players for Borussia Dortmund. BVB though, have put a lot of faith in someone who makes poor decisions far too often. The vast majority of chances given to Yarmolenko lead to nothing, he is too late on a lot of shots. His defensive work rate isn’t anything special either. He’ll need to give fans more of a reason to see why BVB spent the money they did on him.
