According to Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund striker Aubameyang could still be moving to Arsenal by the end of the month.

It isn’t a surprise that this move is still on. After all the turmoil Aubameyang has caused in the past two windows, one thing is for certain–he is a bad apple in the locker-room. It is up to the board now, to decide at what price they want to sell their star striker. For all the nuisance he has caused, BVB have probably made up their mind on letting him go.

Aubameyang has come under a lot of pressure since his rumoured move to London. The fans have clearly turned on him this time around, evident from their boos during the game against Freiburg. What’s changed, however, is the fact that even Aubameyang’s close friend Kevin-Prince Boateng has come out to support his move to London when asked by Eurosport’s broadcaster:

More from BVB Buzz

"“I know him very well, he’s a good friend of mine.“The most important thing would be to just sit down (with Dortmund) and use clear words – that’s how you bring about some peace.“But we must not forget what a great player he is and how much he has given to Dortmund.“It’s wrong, too, that everyone’s piling in on top of him now.”–Kevin-Prince Boateng | Sport24"

Aubameyang has been exceptional for Dortmund in his time at the club but continues to have disciplinary issues. However, his under-the-radar communication with Arsenal has left a bad taste on the palette.

Dortmund looks determined to get their asking price which is around £60 million:

"“Arsenal have made several attempts so far [to sign Aubameyang] and they have all been rejected.“Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer, or they will not be fulfilled and Aubameyang will play in Dortmund until the summer.”–Michael Zorc | Sky"

For the time being, the report states that there is still a chance of Olivier Giroud being a part of this deal. However, it might be best for BVB to hold onto the player till the summer. In a winter of massive transfers, BVB might have more suitors for their strikers in the summer. No matter who comes in immediately, Dortmund will suffer from a lack of attacking edge and Peter Stöger’s side is not prepared for that kind of a profile change.

Some might think signing Aubameyang in exchange for cash and Giroud is good, but the deal only benefits Arsenal who just lost their star player [Alexis Sanchez] to Manchester United.

Giroud is still in his prime, but will not be for much longer. It is better to wait for a better option than take a deal that isn’t beneficial in the long run.
