Which players would I like to see arrive at Borussia Dortmund and which players need to leave in the summer?

BVB badly needs a squad overhaul, and I’m not the only one who thinks that. Since everyone’s “wish list” will be different, I like to think most of the squad doesn’t need to be changed around that much. Dortmund needs to focus on cutting deadweight and promoting the youth in their squad.

Players on their way out:

Roman Burki – Roman Burki needs to leave the team. Burki is having a mixed season, but he isn’t capable of improving from here. Frankly, I lost a lot of faith in the keeper.

Raphael Guerreiro – Raphael Guerreiro spent a wonderful time with Dortmund. The 24-year-old requires more play time. Guerreiro’s form has dipped since his injury. It doesn’t help that Thomas Tuchel brought the best out of the Portuguese International.

Deadweight – Erik Durm, Sebastian Rode, Nuri Sahin, Gonzalo Castro, and Andriy Yarmolenko are part of the deadweight issue. They are not playing and their return from injury is rarely spoken of.

Taking these 7 out of the squad would open a lot of space to bring in specific talents that Dortmund needs to give playing time. The squad would be left with only 19 players scheduled to be with the black and yellows next season.

Players to be brought in:

Dominik Reimann – As a side note, I believe Dominik Reimann deserves to play next season, but in the sense of a couple of games to let Burki’s replacement rest periodically. Reimann is on the squad when needed, he should get a chance to prove himself too.

Alisson – I’d enjoy seeing Borussia Dortmund attempt to get Alisson from Roma. The Brazilian keeper is a gem in Serie A and with a proper manager at BVB, he will be able to continue his form. The Brazil international has 17 clean sheets in all competitions only letting in 31 goals.

Suso – Exchange Schurrle for Suso. Suso would offer a stronger right-wing option than the ones currently present in the team. BVB currently has 5 left wingers excluding Pulisic, who is able to play on either side. Yarmolenko’s space would not be difficult to take over considering how well Suso has done for AC Milan this season.

Adrien Rabiot – Bring in Adrien Rabiot from PSG for the midfield. Sahin and Castro’s performances this season are bad. Rabiot can play the defensive and offensive role with ease and if we consider his playing time for the French giants, he will not come cheap.

Michy Batshuayi – BVB need to purchase Batshuayi. The player has shown he loves playing for the black and yellows while displaying humility. Batshuayi may not be the direct replacement for the striker role as the club had thought he was, but the flair he brings to the pitch is unimaginable. The Belgium international is looking to be one of the next big strikers in the game.

With the above changes, the squad would be down to 23 players; A majority of those players have already signed new contracts or get decent playing time. By not making many changes, the players will get to know each other better and possibly translate that success to the pitch.
