Borussia Dortmund suffered their most humiliating defeat of the season, as Bayern Munich trounced them 6-0 in Der Klassiker.

Former Borussia Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski scored a hattrick for Bayern as they enjoyed a perfect evening at home. Dortmund conceded five goals in what was a calamitous first half. Before Robert Lewandowski scored late on in the second period to complete Der BVB’s humiliation. Here are the player ratings for Borussia Dortmund players from the game.

Roman Burki (4/10)

You have to feel for Roman Burki. After two brilliant performances in the last two games, he was spectacularly let down by his teammates today. Could have done better for a couple of goals, especially the fourth goal, where he was easily beaten by Ribery. But overall, he stood no chance against the ruthless Bayern side.

Lukas Piszczek (2/10)

His 37 game long unbeaten run came to a disappointing end. Bayern largely attacked down their left, and Piszczek had a hard time dealing with the duo of Frank Ribery and David Alaba. Everytime he went forward, Bayern threatened on the counter. His lack of pace was evident once again as Ribery toyed with him constantly, even though the Frenchman is two years older than him.

Manuel Akanji (3/10)

Made a brilliant last ditch tackle to prevent Lewandowski from making it 4-0 in the 35th minute. But he was hapless as Bayern’s forwards attacked in numbers and broke through Dortmund’s defense at will. A harsh footballing lesson for the Swiss international.

Sokratis (3/10)

Dortmund fans were worried about Sokratis starting before the game. And their worst fears came true as the Greek international was a liability in defense. Lewandowski ran rings around him throughout the game.

Marcel Schmelzer (2/10)

Schmelzer always struggles against Arjen Robben, and tonight was no different. The Dortmund captain was more interested in going forward than defending, as Arjen Robben enjoyed yards and yards of space.

Gonzalo Castro (1/10)

Castro was arguably Dortmund’s worst performer in that first half catastrophe. Was arguably at fault for the first three goals before Peter Stoger ended his nightmare and subbed him off at the half hour mark. Castro was easily overrun by Bayern’s midfield and he wouldn’t have been too disappointed at being taken off.

Mahmoud Dahoud (2/10)

Despite his good run of form recently, Dahoud failed to provide a spark to Dortmund’s midfield. Just like Castro, and later Weigl, he was constantly outmuscled and overrun by Bayern. Bayern’s pressing led to him making costly mistakes. Dahoud tried hard but nothing seemed to be working for him. Hopefully, Peter Stoger can now realize that Dahoud is not a holding midfielder.

Christian Pulisic (4/10)

Worked hard and made some good runs down the right flank, but the end product was missing. Took a few long shots as well, but nothing went his way. Arguably Dortmund’s best performer, albeit on a disastrous night.

Mario Gotze (3/10)

Nothing came off for Mario Gotze as he struggled to make any sort of impact. Looked like the shadow of the player he was earlier on in the season. Despite his woes, he came closest to scoring for Borussia Dortmund when he hit the post in the second half. Was taken off to be replaced by Nuri Sahin in the 77th minute.

Andre Schurrle (2/10)

Was dispossessed four times, which is more than any other player on the pitch. It was another dismal performance by the German, who failed to provide any sort of attacking impetus for Dortmund.

Michy Batshuayi (3/10)

Did not get involved in the game at all really, as his teammates failed to provide him with any service. Five of his 13 first half touches came from kick-offs, which tells us all we need to know about his impact (or lack of).

Substitutes

Julian Weigl (2/10)

Came on at the half hour mark, replacing the erroneous Gonzalo Castro, when he arguably should have started. But his sloppy giveaway led to Bayern’s fifth. Never really got involved in the game.

Maximilian Philipp (N/R)

Did not get much of a chance to show his worth as his teammates had given up by the time he came on to the pitch.

Nuri Sahin (N/R)

Came on with 13 minutes to go, as Borussia Dortmund looked to limit the damage. But they conceded just minutes later as Bayern completed their romp.
