Winner (but might feel like a loser): Lucien Favre

More from BVB Buzz

Lucien Favre is undoubtedly a winner as he gets a natural goalscorer with great mentality and confidence in Haaland. But the signing of Haaland means that he will now be under even more pressure to deliver results in the second half of the season.

Favre and Borussia Dortmund seriously underperformed in the first half of the season. And now that the BVB bosses have pulled off the signing of Haaland, Favre will have no excuses left. He must show improvement in results, or he could be gone by the end of the season.

Favre now has a wealth of attacking options to choose from, and it will give him plenty of selection headaches over the coming months. It will be up to him to keep all his attacking players happy, while making sure that the team doesn’t become unbalanced. It certainly won’t be an easy task.

Another thing that might make Favre feel like a loser from this transfer is that he prefers to play with a mobile false nine, and Haaland is more of a traditional striker. So it will interesting to see how Favre uses the Norwegian international.
