Marco Rose retains the full backing of the Borussia Dortmund bosses despite the setbacks suffered by the team against Ajax and RB Leipzig.

Borussia Dortmund suffered two damaging defeats before the international break, as they came out second best against both AFC Ajax and RB Leipzig. The defeats led to some wild speculation that the Black and Yellows could consider sacking the 45 year old and replacing him with Edin Terzic if results don’t improve by the winter break. But WAZ report that Rose has the full support of the BVB bosses.

The newspaper adds that the start to the season is seen as satisfactory by those in charge, especially when considering the injury crisis that Borussia Dortmund have had to deal with so far. A total of 11 first-team players missed BVB’s trip to RB Leipzig just before the international break, including the likes of Erling Haaland, Raphael Guerreiro, Mahmoud Dahoud and Gio Reyna.

The dire injury situation has no doubt limited Borussia Dortmund’s progress so far this season. But as Hans-Joachim Watzke said earlier this month, they still have everything in their own hands. Marco Rose will be hoping to have some of his injured players back for this weekend’s Bundesliga home game against VfB Stuttgart.

Borussia Dortmund have a number of decisive games coming up in the next few weeks. They travel to Portugal to take on Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League next week. And the first Bundesliga game of the season against title rivals Bayern Munich is not that far away either.
