Borussia Dortmund have reportedly held fresh talks over Hoffenheim star Fisnik Asllani. According to German news outlet BILD, the BVB are still interested in the Kosovan international.
The North-Rhine Westphalia outfit have been linked with the forward for quite sometime now and Asllani himself is understood to be interested in joining the Black and Yellows.
However, any potential transfer depends on departures as the 23-year-old is mainly seen as a replacement for either Serhou Guirassy or Karim Adeyemi.
Both the BVB stars have been linked with an exit this summer, with Guirassy linked to Turkish side Fenerbahce and Adeyemi to PSG.
In Guirassy's case, the club's sporting director Nils-Ole Book even admitted that while Dortmund have no intention of selling him off, they would still consider if any extraordinary offer comes in.
Niko Kovac's side reopening talks with Asllani hints at uncertain futures for Guirassy and Adeyemi. Because, what else could prompt them to express their interest in the player again?
Guirassy has been worth every penny that BVB spent on him but his short spells at clubs mean he could be on the move again.
The Guinean international hasn't spent more than two or three years at any of his previous clubs and has jumped between multiple European leagues.
As for Adeyemi, his form dropped spectacularly after the turn of 2026 while his relationship with Kovac was also rumored to be on the rocks following his unsportsmanlike behavior.
Although the Croatian later cleared the air by reassuring that things have been kosher between the pair and he admires the German playmaker, it has done little to fend off exit links.
Moreover, Adeyemi will enter the final year of his contract next season after negotiations to extend it didn't come to fruition. BVB may well cash in on a transfer instead of losing him for free next summer.
If either of them (or both) end up leaving Signal Iduna Park, Asllani's move to Dortmund could be certain.
A versatile forward who can excel in the striker's role as well as that of a winger, Asllani netted 10 goals while also making a further nine assists in the Bundesliga last season.
He not only possesses a keen eye for goal but is also a prolific creator who can pick out his teammates with an inch-perfect cross or a defense-splitting pass.
At 23, the Kosovan international is relatively young and Dortmund's would be securing the striker's position for the foreseeable future with Asllani signing.
