Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy appears to be a hot commodity in the market right now. The striker has been linked with quite a few club lately and now has another side join the race.
German news outlet BILD reports that Aston Villa have now entered the fray for the Guinean ace in case their prolific marksman Ollie Watkins departs.
The Villans have secured a Champions League return after lifting the Europa League trophy last month as head coach Unai Emery wants to bolster his squad to remain competitive next season too.
Villa have now reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring Guirassy and are even closely monitoring his situation right now as the player navigates uncertain times.
Die Borussen are reportedly keen to retain the striker for next season, for he's become the face of the club over the last two years with his blistering exploits.
Following a stunning 38-goal haul in his debut season, Guirassy netted another 22 goals last season, including 17 in the Bundesliga, to help the BVB secure a second-place finish.
His fabulous stats haven't gone unnoticed in Europe with Turkish side Fenerbahce reportedly linked with the star and said to be interested in bringing the striker to Istanbul.
But Villa hold the upper hand in terms of what they can offer although the Birmingham side is facing financial restrictions due to UEFA's strict Squad Cost Rule.
It limits their next season losses to about €60 million and hence Aston Villa are required to make calculated business in the summer transfer window.
So in case of Watkins' departure, the club will be forced to look out for a replacement and have identified Guirassy as their next potential striker.
The 30-year-old is a prolific marksman who exudes breathtaking confidence in front of goal while the high-press can give any mean outfit a run for their money.
His movement on and off the ball is second to none while Guirassy's towering stature allows him to dominate aerial duels too.
It's said that Villa are going after younger players this summer. Signing an aging player would go against their policy and pose them a few financial risks too.
But there's the question of Watkins too. Should the Englishman decide to stay put at the Villa Park, then a move for Guirassy would be off the table.
Given the player's record of regular movements - he's played for four different clubs in just the last seven years - it won't be surprising to see Guirassy move to Villa or elsewhere.
