In the final weekend of league play before the September international break, two Borussia Dortmund players out on loan made their debuts for their new clubs.
Borussia Dortmund loan watch: Soumaila Coulibaly, Youssoufa Moukoko, Salih Özcan, Sebastien Haller
Stade Brest claimed their first win of the season in Ligue 1 this past weekend, securing a 4-0 triumph over AS Saint-Étienne. Loan signing Soumaïla Coulibaly came off the bench for his Ligue 1 debut in the 74th minute, and made an impactful appearance for this season's UEFA Champions League debutants.
Coulibaly was fouled inside the box in the 82nd minute, resulting in a penalty for Stade Brest. Kenny Lala stepped up to make it 4-0 from the spot and seal the win. Stade Brest are now up to 12th place in the Ligue 1 standings, having lost their first two games of the season.
Also in Ligue 1, Youssoufa Moukoko was an unused substitute as OGC Nice enjoyed a comfortable 4-1 win over Angers SCO. The highly rated striker will hope to make his debut for Nice after the international break.
In the Bundesliga, Salih Özcan came off the bench at half-time and helped VfL Wolfsburg see out a 2-0 win over newly promoted side Holstein Kiel. The Türkiye international replaced Lovro Majer for the second-half and helped Wolfsburg claim their first win of the season in the Bundesliga.
Özcan and Wolfsburg will square off against Borussia Dortmund next month in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
Sebastien Haller is the fourth Borussia Dortmund player out on loan. But his loan move was only completed late on transfer deadline day, so he did not feature in CD Leganes' 1-0 defeat to RCD Mallorca. Leganes have started their La Liga campaign with one win, two draws and one defeat from their opening four matches.
