Borussia Dortmund had one of their busiest summer transfer windows in recent history.
Three young guns for whom deals were long agreed, finally arrived before the BVB added four more talented and high-profile stars, including one on the final day in a total outlay of over 100 million euros, one of their biggest ever spending campaigns.
Here's ranking each of the new arrivals from cheapest to costliest:
7) Justin Lerma - €4 million
Among the first names to arrvie at Dortmund this summer, Justin Lerma had already agreed to join Dortmund in 2024 though he was only 16 at the time. Due to FIFA's strict regulations surrounding foreign players, the club had to wait for him to turn 18 before he finally arrived.
Lerma even scored in their first preseason game of the summer, but due to competition for places in midfield, hasn't made a single appearance with the side in the 2026-27 season yet. He's with Dortmund's youth team in Regionalliga, gaining valuable experience.
6) Ethan Nwaneri - €5 million
Dortmund's only deadline day signing of the summer, Ethan Nwaneri arrived as an emergency signing following an unfortunate ACL injury to fellow new arrival Giannis Konstantelias. But unlike other players, he isn't here on a permanent transfer.
The Arsenal outcast will spend the 2026-27 season on loan at BVB, who are also covering his entire salary for the duration. His impact was immediate, coming off the bench to force an own goal that completed their comeback against Hoffenheim last weekend.
With Mikel Arteta not keen to play him in the lineup, Nwaneri came to Dortmund looking for valuable gametime and has clocked over 100 minutes in two appearances off the bench already, while looking promising with his first touches, ball carries and vision.
5) Kaua Prates - €7 million
Dortmund dipped into the South American market for another talented teenager in Kaua Prates, signed from Brazilian side Cruzeiro in a long-term deal until 2031 as a foundational piece of their defensive unit in the years to come.
But in the season proper, he's accumulated just 51 minutes of action so far as the 18-year-old is still adapting to life at the club while also facing fierce competition from Daniel Svensson for a spot in the left-back position.
4) Joane Gadou - €19.5 million
To spend close to 20 million euros on a player with only two years of senior football experience and none on the international stage seemed risky. But so far, Gadou has shown he's worth every penny that Dortmund have spent on him.
Following a promising preseason campaign, the defender has carried his rich vein of form into the new season too, holding the fort (in absence of some senior players) with the kind of confidence and maturity that bely his age.
3) Joey Veerman - €22 million
Borussia Dortmund needed another deep-lying playmaker in the midfield engine room, and brought in Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven for a sizeable €22 million investment.
Following a slow start, he seems to be getting into gear with BVB, laying eight crosses and registering a pass completion rate of 87% over the last three games.
2) Giannis Konstentelias - €26 million
As Dortmund lost two of their attacking midfielders Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi, who also accounted for most goals in the squad after only Serhou Guirassy last season, Giannis Konstantelias was roped in to cement the gap.
Boasting a formidable attacking skillset, there was plenty of promise around his arrival and the Greek starlet even demonstrated his value by creating a goal against Bayern and then scoring on his Bundesliga debut against Hamburger.
However, Konstentelias suffered an unfortunate ACL injury in that second game, and now faces months out. There's potential in him to become the next big thing of European football, but we'll have to wait for a while to see it.
1) Konstantinos Karetsas - €30 million
Dortmund's second most expensive signing in history, Karetsas announced his arrival with a fabulous curling effort against Arsenal on his preseason debut. And although he's yet to score an official goal in the season, the Greek gun already feels like a vital figure in Kovac's system.
He ran the show in the Hamburger clash on the first matchday of Bundesliga while also bagging an assist for Serhou Guirassy's opening goal. His distribution skills are top-notch and has added some much-needed pace to BVB's plays.
Karetsas, however, suffered a circulation problem during their Champions League game against Villarreal on Tuesday and is set to miss the upcoming encounter with Paderborn today. But when fit and firing, he could emerge as Dortmund's new midfield talisman.
