Sweden drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday as Borussia Dortmund star Daniel Svensson was on the bench the whole time.

The marauding full-back had appeared in both their Nations League fixtures last week against Romania and Poland, and his drop from the lineup - and even going the entire game without seeing a minute's playing time - is perhaps on account of workload management.

The international window has proved to be brutal for a lot of top stars around Europe, with Kylian Mbappe, Kai Havertz, Cody Gakpo, Brian Brobbey, Jamal Musiala, and Nico O'Reilly among others going off with a knock.

Dortmund obviously wouldn't want such a fate with any of their key players, although Julian Ryerson did leave the pitch early during Norway's clash with Wales last night, whereas Nico Schlotterbeck also appreared to have sustained a knock during a training session with Germany's national team a day earlier.

In their home loss to Portugal, Ryerson went down in the second half with apparent discomfort and was replaced by Leo Ostigard. As there wasn't a serious issue, the 28-year-old was given another start by Norwegian manager Stale Solbakken and it backfired within 16 minutes of the match, as the BVB full-back sat down on the pitch in pain before getting subbed off.

Latest reports now reveal that he's left the Norwegian camp and hasn't flown to Porto with the rest of the squad, raising injury concerns again. The player is set to undergo further examinations which would determine if he'd be sidelined for a while.

A lethal attacking weapon for Dortmund who registered 18 assists in all competitions last season, Ryerson had played in all seven matches for them in the 2026-27 campaign before the international break and even led the side in terms of crosses with 18 in the Bundesliga.

He's a vital component now in their attacking structure and losing him to injury would obviously mean a huge blow to BVB's offensive game. If Ryerson is confirmed to miss a few games, Maximilian Beier could replace him at the right wing-back position.

As for Schlotterbeck, the defender was confirmed to miss Germany's last two matches of the international window against Serbia and Greece and was declared a doubt for Dortmund's league game at home to Werder Bremen next weekend too.

Svensson has so far managed to avoid any health scare, though Sweden have one more game to negotiate with before wrapping up their schedule for the month, as the Blagult face Romania on Monday, 5 October.

It's still unclear if Svensson would be playing, but as Graham Potter's side look to bounce back from the 1-1 draw in Zenica, the manager would want to field his best XI in Bucharest and return the side to winning ways again.
