According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Dortmund have their eyes on the young Argentinian center-back from Rosario Central, Juan Giménez. The prodigy is on Borussia Dortmund's list, as the scouting department is closely monitoring it. A transfer could materialize once the Black and Yellows are looking for a depth defender with the versatility of Giménez.
Juan Valentín Giménez is a versatile center-back who can play on both sides of a back-four and even a back-three, as well as a defensive midfielder on certain occasions. Last season, Giménez played a total of 2.466 minutes for Rosario Central in all competitions with one goal and one assist, including U20s and the professional team.
In 2025, he had only four matches for Rosario, as he was called up for Argentina's U20s team for the South American Championship between January and February, where Giménez was a starter. He is a good defender on and off the ball, being patient with possession and finding the right passing angles, and also defending spaces with speed and physicality. As a starter of a brilliant U20 Argentina team, Giménez has the potential to be a future star in the making with the characteristics of a true leader.
According to Patrick Berger, the Black and Yellows are looking for four different positions, at least, across the pitch to reinforce their squad for the 2025/2026 season, including a box-to-box midfielder, a number 10, a centre-back, and a back-up striker. A few old faces are being strongly linked with BVB, like Jobe Bellingham and Rayan Cherki, while some others, like Mikey Moore and Victor Froholdt, are also allegedly on the club's shopping list.
