Borussia Dortmund are reportedly set to decide against signing a new left-back this summer, with Ramy Bensebaini potentially in line for another opportunity in the team.

For a long time, it seemed that Borussia Dortmund would be making the loan signing of Ian Maatsen permanent. But the Dutch left-back has since made the permanent move to Aston Villa, with the €44 million transfer fee putting him out of BVB's price range.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu then emerged as Borussia Dortmund's top target for the left-back spot, but BILD claim that he is now also out of the club's price range following his strong performances for Türkiye at Euro 2024.

According to the tabloid, Sebastian Kehl and co. have now seemingly decided to completely shelve their plans to bring in a new left-back. Instead, it appears that Ramy Bensebaini will be given another opportunity in the starting XI.

The Algeria international had a debut season to forget at Borussia Dortmund, as he struggled to make his mark during the hinrunde, and then lost his spot in the team to Maatsen. A knee injury then forced him to miss the last two months of the season.

Bensebaini joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach last summer, signing a four year contract with the club.

Providing competition at left-back will likely be Tom Rothe, who is coming off an impressive loan spell at Holstein Kiel. The 19 year old played a crucial role in Kiel's promotion to the Bundesliga last season, and could become a regular part of the Borussia Dortmund first-team in the coming campaign.
